Here at Richard's House, we are a small team of six.
Everyone supports each other - we think its a pleasant place to work with good support from manager and colleagues.
We put a lot of emphasis on training: new staff undergo several weeks of shadowing before they work on their own,
and training is on-going. particularly in communication skills
(key word signing and learning how to programme an electronic speech aid).
We are very proud that we are an Award Winning service, having won
"Best Individual employing own staff' at the Skills for Care Accolades 2020".
Any service is only as good as the front line staff delivering it, and all credit for the award goes to the team.
We have one vacancy for a full time support worker, or two vacancies for part time support workers.
Full details are provided below. If you wish to apply please complete the application form here and return it to me at [email protected].
If you are unable to complete the application form (because e.g. you are working from a mobile phone or similar) you can simply email me the information requested in the application form: It doesnt much matter what format it is sent in; what matters is that we receive the requested information. Alternatively, please email me at [email protected] or call 07518 347559 and we can arrange a fifteen minute telephone interview to gather the information we need.
I shall look forward to hearing from you.

About Richard
Richard is an active young man. He enjoys a range of activities each week and he has a very reasonable social life. Richard has mobility limitations, but is ambulant and doesn’t often use a wheelchair. He has some health issues which need managing but is generally in good health and in good spirits. He does need help to manage his behaviour, and he can be impulsive and anxious, and has a very limited sense of danger. Staff need to be vigilant at all times when supporting Richard.
Richard needs help with all aspects of daily living including personal care.
Richard enjoys computer games and all things electronic. He is best with support workers who have similar interests. He likes to go to car boot fairs at the weekend. He is encouraged to lead a healthy active life and goes cycling (on a track with specially adapted bikes), to the gym, enjoys nights out/disco/pub, shopping. He attends a day centre. He is generally keen to try new things. He loves retro-gaming and (at the moment) comicons.
Communication is extremely important to Richard and he will need support to maximise and continue to develop his communication skills. He uses signalong, and he also has an electronic speech aid.
